Self assessment about my first academic year

By 2009 I went to study this race ... Veterinary Medicine
The previous way was easier for me. I did a good pre-university, but I knew I wouldn´t need a special score to enter the career I always wanted. The school was easy (and of course I say this having gone through my first year in college)
I entered with enthusiasm, good spirits, motivated, believing that it wouldn´t be a difficult task, but not without its challenges ... but I never thought that these challenges are so difficult that I made and some ... impossible. Of course, as time went on I realized what a mess I had gotten
Well, the early days of course, everything was rosy, but as time passed and the classes were going on, things got more difficult. The typical truth: the school does not compare at all with the university
To be honest the first half of the year I didn´t put so much effort as they should, and anyway I was not wrong. Zoology was pure memory, math was hard but I think it cost me so much. of the other classes do not remember. Yes I was bad considering that I failed chemistry but I have to compare the level of effort that started: Just say a little more than they did in school.
But then came the second part of the year and there begins my nightmare.
You get a new classmates and I'll form new friendships. Sales, have fun and the truth, I lost a lot of time on fun instead of studying. Some friends needed much less time to study, but of course, I needed much more time. And that I realized quite late. By failing chemistry, i have to say that my biochemistry became impossible. Everything took too much aa lightly, as it didn´t matter that I was wrong, I walked as elsewhere, I had no feet in the ground. Other branches also took them too lightly, I couldn´t see the downside to failing a class, like I did everything as the same. I think it was too immature, despite having already fallen in the first half, could not understand the importance of the case. As you can see, my second half was total failure, but with a great moral.

Well, one should always make the best of every experience, in this case I had to learn not to give up and have to start giving more than 100% of himself. The quiet at the end is there, give the best of himself, but could not, at least I gave it all ... well ... My consolation: everything happens for something
We hope this year will be better! English classmates goodbye!

Great white sharks may be more endangered than tigers.

It has been suggested there are more tigers left in the wild than white sharks

The assessment suggests that fishing and collisions with shipping vessels have taken a devastating toll on the ancient predators.

The World Conservation Union, lists great white sharks as vulnerable but has no official estimate of their global population. But a recent survey suggests that great whites have fallen below 3,500 individuals, the number of tigers conservationists believe are left in the wild.

A team led by Barbara Block, a marine biologist at Stanford University, used radio transmitters to track more than 150 great white sharks off the coast of southern California.

"The estimated total population of great white sharks in the world's oceans is actually less than the number of tigers," said Ronald O'Dor, a senior scientist at the Census of Marine Life.
"We hear an awful lot about how endangered tigers are, but apparently great white sharks are pretty close to the same level..." said O'Dor told the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in San Diego yesterday.

"The Australians have now got a system where they put tags on great white sharks and they have receivers on the beaches so when a great white comes into the bay the receiver automatically makes a cell phone call and tells the guy in charge to close the beach. So we can co-exist with marine life," he added.

In 2007, marine biologists at Dalhousie University in Canada analysed records from fisheries and research vessels dating from the 1970s to 2005: Tiger sharks and scalloped hammerheads had declined more than 97% since the mid-1980s, while numbers of smooth hammerheads and bull sharks fell 99% off the east coast of the US.

Improving My dear Faculty...

WHAT IS THE CURRENT SITUATION IN YOUR FACULTY?
In my opinion, the current situation is more bad than good. I´ll just name a couple of things that I don´t like... or maybe.. I HATE!
I´m imagining a foreigner to attend a class and is invaded by flies... don´t you think it´s embarrassing? And then, he´s starving and want to eat something delicious, healthy and of course, that the person who treats you do it well, but, NO! he comes face to face to fatty foods! and a face not very friendly of the woman who´s serving you. ( DON´T WANT TO BE OFFENSIVE). Later, he wants to tell someone about this, and he goes to Secretariat... BIG MISTAKE! again you´re face to face to not very friendly faces. So now, he wants to talk with a teacher in particular...( I will not give name ) but... Surprise! that teacher isn´t known for being very friendly, and .. it is best to call Doctor ... maybe it's better for you...
WHAT THINGS NEED IMPROVEMENT?
I think that is more important to improve the treatment of some teachers toward us.It costs nothing! Then, the subject of flies... I mean they are ridiculously too many and annoying! are unhygienic and they deconcentrated to any. And the Cafe will not hart to improve.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR FIRST STEPS TO DEALING WITH THIS SITUATION?
Perhaps develop a survey covering these three points, and of course some more, to see if it is just my idea or most of the students thought the same. Then, to find concrete solutions to these problems. Then communicate their discomfort and who must be solutions, and hopefully I can be heard.
HOW WOULD YOU RESOLVE THIS SITUATION?
About of teacher treatment.. maybe I have nothing to do... But yes about the other two.
For the flies, could be a little hard, because i think the flies comes because of horses. But why not have classes in one room that is away from the stable? In any case the would have, but not so as there are in the classrooms near of the stable. Maybe find "something" that away from the classrooms, repellents? call one fumigation company? I do not know! have to investigate.
About the cofe,I have heard that it´s not property from the faculty, so the real solution would be to invest in a Cafe as it should. Or maybe a dialogue with the Cafe and solve problems such as lack of healthy and delicious meals.
WHAT COULD BE THE REAL BENEFITS/IMPACT OF THESE IMPROVEMENTS
The Faculty would be a much more enjoyable, best viewed by the other faculties, a great place to be!
NEXT STEPS >> FURTHER RECOMMENDATIONS
I will love to have another places like the " Cuchitril"... this is kind of dirty, the dogs put in the sofas and nobody cleans it. Roofing more sites because on rainy days, places like the Cuchitril, the library and the Cafe are filled too . I will like to have a modern classroom, just one! is that so much to ask? Some room to make us feel proud... like in anothers faculties do!

My favorite animal..EVER!

When I was in 1° grade at school, I have to give a disertation for my classmates about an animal, but chosen by the teacher.
That animal was the chinchilla, and chinchilla is actually my favorite animal.
I have good memories about my school times and I still remember a lot of the disertation, amazing don´t you think? considering that I was 6 years old.
The chinchillas are small nocturnal mammals rodents, native from the Cordillera de los Andes, they live in Bolivia, Perú, and of course Chile. They feed on fruits, plants, insects and seeds. In the wild they live about 10 years, but as pets they reach up the 25 years of age. Females are bigger than males ( maybe that means... females are smarter? jaja).
Chinchillas are one of the animals with the best of coat. But its wonderful silky hair is also the direct cause of his death. It happens that they are searched by the fur industry to turn them into coats, handbags and other accessories. So, in the wild they are in danger, but in reserves, the chinchillas are safe.
In Chile, for example, there is a National Reserve of Chinchillas, sheltered by the Conaf, that ensure the safety and the care of each animal.
In the future, I´ll love to work with chinchillas, maybe in a reserve, saving them from the danger of extinction, educate the people to care the animals, specially ours. Well... to do a lot of things for my favorite animal!

CHINCHILLA´S RULES!

A dear tourist would have to...

First of all a foreigner has to eat! And a place to eat very well could be "Patio Bellavista". It has excellent restaurants adn in the same place you can find some stores...to buy a souvenir from Santiago. They sell shirts, magnetos to the fridge, key rings and a whole world of things.
Near of "Patio Bellavista" you can walk a couples of blocks and find "San Cristobal Hill", you can get up throw elevator and have the greatest view of our city... but I have to say that it would be greater after a rain...anyway jijiji.
If it´s ski season a foregner friend would have to go to Vallen Nevado, La Parve, or some other ski resort, and if not, the tourist have to go to "Cajón del Maipo", a really wonderful site, and spend time with the nature and realx, or do some extreme sport like rafting and experience adrenalineeee!
Also must to visit the Pablo Neruda´s home "La Chascona". Neruda is considered internationality, moreover, the house it´s really beautiful and big, and full of entertainment things.
Finally, he would have to visit "Plaza de Armas" , considered as the historical center of Santiago. In there you can take pictures , cartoon yourself and take a nice and funny memory from your travel.
VISIT SANTIAGO! YOU´RE CORDIALLY INVITED!

Session 5: Death Penalty

In my opinion, I don´t believe in Death Penalty. I believe that no human being has the power nor the right on another person to finish the live to somebody. It happens to take the rights of each person, even so the crime committed is very high.
The death isn´t a punishment, but the passage to another better life, that for my opinion and my religious thought. But I believe in the punishment as good, I mean, to learn of the committed errors and to be able to amend them. For example those people who are judged by violations or murders, or some other type of crimes, before dying, I believe that they must pay by the errors, and at the same time to recover themselves and maybe become rehabilitated people. Obviously if these people will never be "normal" ,the long penalties are good in these cases. The death is definitively the easy way, but not the good one.
Countries like USA, Guatemala, Japan, India and others, have not abolished the death penalty. For example in China, the political corruption is punished with the death penalty... And is here when I think to myself... So free what we are? How to condemn a person to only think of a different way?! And also is here when I feel happy for living in Chile and not in these countries that see this like the best of the solutions.

Session 4 : Country I would like to visit

I would like to travel to FRANCE
yeeaaah! always that I'm watching a movie, like with french music I'm like " oohhh I love that music! someday I will travel to FRANCE". Love the way they talk, I feel envy, I mean, I'll love to talk that way, I think it's completely diffrent to the english.
Well, the most of people when think in Francia, think in Paris... well ... me to! jaja. I already imagine me, on the feets of the Eiffel Tower, in the midnight! with the moonlight, and of course the lights from the tower,(somepeople called the Gold Tower because of the lights), drinking in a coffee shop. OH! the paradise for me.
It`s a country all fashion, all glamour! so magazine thing!. It's a rich country in culture, full of museums... The Louvre Museum where's the famous "Monalisa"... so cool!
Well, in my opinion, i don't know if I will like to work or live in France, that means to learn a completely different language, means to be so far from the family. Maybe be there for a little time, just to have a good time, like for have holidays, but not to stay there for ever.
Au revoir guys!

Well, for years back, in the capital of my country Chile, Santiago, the system of transporter, was replaced for a new one. The old yellows "micros", now are "Transiantiago" modern buses, modern... I guess.
The true is that, before i get in College, i didn´t use a lot the buses, i mean, when i was at school, or even before, when the yellows " micros" were the transporter, i didn´t use much them. But, i have some memories about that.
If i compare, like the general things, i can say that the yellows micros were unsafe. You always had to be affirmed very well, and worried about.. about everything! The driver drived so fast, i remeber once time, i have gone with my mom, and she was kind of worried, jajaja.
The thing was like more independent, or that´s i think. The driver adorned her "baby"... well i remember a lot of micros with its own name, with every kind of things hanging from the sky.... that i liked.
Now, i think its better. Although equal there are robberies, are much less. The buses are bigger, so more people can be in. It´s safer. You also can pay once, always when before you were in the subway. It´s cleaner, expeditious, and seats for disable people...
For these and a lot of more reasons, i think that Transantiago, is something that we have to care, and be proud to have.
